About Suiwan

The word "iki/sui"

"Iki" or "sui" (粋) is a Japanese word that describes something or someone that is refined and stylish, knowledgeable about human nature and sophisticated, pure and unadulterated, or excellent and select.

It is a word that particularly describes a unique Japanese aesthetic and culture that emerged during the Edo period. It represents a value that emphasizes not only outward splendor but also the inner dignity and integrity that emanates from within.

It is not boorish, nor is it overly pretentious. It is understated, yet essentially beautiful. That is "iki."

Our vision for Suiwan

We want to provide the best for our beloved pets.

Not just outward splendor, but essential beauty backed by the skill of artisans. A bowl that grows on you with every use, making daily life a little more special.

It was with this desire to create such a "stylish" bowl that "Suiwan" was born.

Suiwan is where the tradition of Edo Kiriko and love for pets intersect.
